Pestis, born Yersinia Pestis Squat, follows in an honored family tradition. Her great-grandfather Bupkes founded RodentRealty, which was and still is the world's only hamster-owned real estate company. The company was operated by both of Pestis's paternal great-grandparents, Bupkes and Fancy and, after their deaths, by her grandfather, Cesar.
In these hard economic times, it was Pestis who decided that the company must continue. She began by taking online correspondence courses in marketing and real etate, and achieved a perfect grade average of 4.0. And upon receiving her diploma she took to the job with a fervor that matches that of great-grandfather Bupkes.
